subjects. Her versatility is evident in most mediums, she prefers watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencil, choosing the medium which best expresses her feeling for the painting’s subject.
Martha began art lessons at a young age, inspired by artist-neighbors and teachers while growing up in suburbs of Kansas City, Chicago, and Buffalo, New York. She has a BFA in Communication Design from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, graduating with honors. Martha has received awards and scholarships throughout her educational and professional experience. Two paintings are in The Best of Colored Pencil, Volume I by Rockport Publishers, Inc.
Martha’s work experience includes graphic designer and art director for a printer and advertising agencies in Binghamton, New York and Tucson, Arizona; free lancing in graphic design and illustration; painting 19 murals in a Tucson elementary school; teaching weekly drawing and painting classes to children and adults in her home as well as workshops and demonstrations.
Martha exhibits her work in galleries and venues through arts groups. She is a member of Waterloo Watercolor Group, Capitol Art Society, and the 620 Group, all in Austin, Texas. Martha and her husband Gene have two grown children. They live in Austin, Texas where Martha pursues her painting fulltime.
